ABOUT ANNEX

Annex produces six year-round beers, way more experimental brews, and a selection of craft sodas—all from our centrally located headquarters in Calgary, Alberta. We claimed our spot on Alberta’s craft brewing map just as it was taking shape in 2015. Since then, we’ve kept experimenting, adding variables, and pushing ourselves to put out products that challenge how people think about the way they drink. 

Not everything we make is for everyone. In fact, nothing we make is. But we’re always in a position to pour something that will please the curious, unconventional, and forward-thinking. For us, that’s kinda the whole point of this Project. When we got started, the craft brewing culture was already undergoing some pretty seismic shifts for the better. As much as it thrills us to see positive changes in the beer industry, we’re impatient and doing everything we can to push for progress.

WHO WE ARE

To help us be identified by the like-minded folks we want to cater to, we’re upfront about what we stand for and what we can’t stand. Which is why we want to share our Guiding Principles with you.

  • This one’s a biggy, and it’s been a part of our ethos since day one. It’s our way of saying we prioritize doing what’s right because it’s right to us, not because we’re directed to do so by some external authority.

  • We look at everything we do through a critical lens to make sure it’s something we’re proud of. And even once we’re proud of it, we’re not done. Nothing is sacred or precious and everything is a candidate for improvement.

  • For us, the way we’ve always done it is actually the way we’ve never done it. We know ideas and inspiration come from anyone, anywhere and that it takes creativity and ingenuity to make the leap from good to great.

  • We take pride in our work and are committed to delivering exceptional results through collective effort. Each team member stands behind their contributions, owns their responsibilities, and holds themselves accountable for their impact. 

  • We’re here to grow people. And we’re here to grow, people. It’s on purpose that our team is made up of talented, curious, and awesome people keen to enhance their own skills and contribute to others’ development.

  • We’re committed to fostering diversity, equality, inclusion, and accessibility within our team, physical spaces, and the greater craft beer community. The industry’s made some strides of late, but we’re far from the finish line.

  • We stand behind our product, our people, and yes, our principles—including the ones listed here. We know this might seem like nothing more than the corporate checking of boxes—we can be cynical ourselves—but you can check our receipts.
